This Management Sucks

Pakistani employees have always suffered from bad management practices (there are good examples as well but there is no fun discussing those). PIM was established in 1954 to "serve the growing and complex needs of organizational managers and to enhance their managerial skills through training, consultancy, and research." In short, to fix bad management practices. More institutions have surfaced since. LUMS' Rausing Executive Development Center is a well-known example. I think all these institutions have done a good job in providing management training.

But they all missed a spot.

Keeping my previous rant in mind, read a comment from an experienced engineer working at a fertilizer company, about his employer’s specific management practice. [These comments were posted by this engineer himself on a professional organization's mailing list. They are as real as they can get.]

My company is against part time education of employees & does not support them in any, rather if it comes to know of any such activity, it stifles the growth of that person.

Yikes!

Who is running this company, Mr. Bean? Do they really think they can survive very long with that kind of attitude? Or maybe they have been around very long. That would be really bad. But, how come?

I am confused. And scared, too.
